Award-Winning and Iconic Lake Harriet Park Bandshell

The BTR design for the Lake Harriet Bandshell grew out of an open process involving a 33-member advisory committee.  The most basic program requirements included the need for a performance stage able to accommodate up to 75 musicians, storage space for chairs and wheelchair accessibility up to the stage level. Additional requirements related to the site were parking for 150 cars, noise reduction for neighboring residential areas and accommodation of the site’s varied users including runners, cyclists, swimmers and boaters. The Refectory is the second phase of the master plan for the band shell area.  Designed in a similar style to the band shell,  the refectory houses a concession area, storage, restrooms and a covered area which can be used by ice skaters for warming during the winter. A terrace on the lake side provides an area for casual eating and relaxation.
