New Cemetery Buildings That Integrate With Environment

This important project was designed for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. Located in Preston, MN, the Minnesota Stage Veterans Cemetery in Preston meets the needs of the Veteran community throughout southeast Minnesota. BTR is proud to serve on the design team that is creating this amenity to honor our military heroes. The project consists of an entirely new cemetery constructed on land donated by Fillmore County. New roads, site utilities, signage, irrigation systems, landscaping, internment and columbarium structures are included in the project as well as three buildings. BTR was responsible for the design of these three structures that include an Administration/Visitor Building, Committal Shelter, and a Maintenance Building. BTR worked within the Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Design Guidelines to create lasting buildings that reflect the character of the site and those it serves. Locally sourced natural limestone, wood and the use of abundant windows connect the buildings to their striking natural setting. Once complete, the cemetery will provide a place of honor and reverence for Minnesota’s veterans.
