Grand Opening at RCTC Memorial Hall
Rochester Community and Technical College celebrated the Grand Opening of the newly remodeled Memorial Hall with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration.
The project, funded through state bonding funds requested by Minnesota State, features a welcoming two-story entrance addition at the west side of the building along with significant renovations to existing classroom spaces to provide new active learning spaces that reflect today's educational practices and technologies. The project also created new faculty offices with a focus on faculty-student collaboration, constructed a new chiller plant to serve the growing RCTC campus, and reduced the deferred maintenance backlog on campus.
Now that the renovated classroom and faculty offices are open, construction activities shift to a new outdoor learning and gathering space for the campus along the wooded hillside to the south of the building. The BTR- and DF/Damon Farber- designed second phase will open later this year.
BTR's Ann Voda attended the celebration and can even be seen on the local news! Rochester's ABC affiliate, KAAL TV, reported on the event here.
