In order to retain the character of the site and the continuity of the cloister, innovative structural techniques were employed to maintain a shallow floor-to-floor height. This was accomplished via an elaborate post-tensioned concrete system that saves space and accommodates the heavy loading criteria required for a library. The building is also served by an ultra-high speed access line for world-wide data communication and information sharing. |
