Academic Learning Center and Campus Renovations

Phased Design and Construction for the Hagg Sauer Academic Learning Center and Campus Renovations

BTR designed the multi-phased Bemidji State University Academic Learning Center & Campus Renovations project. The project included the construction of a new classroom building and renovations of four existing campus buildings.  The overall goal of the project was to create space to respond to and prepare for evolving pedagogies and technologies, and to enable and support all dimensions of learning.

The new Hagg Sauer Academic Learning Center was designed to facilitate the development of students’ knowledge and skills in evolving fields by prioritizing innovative classroom learning space in a new 27,700 GSF classroom building.  The project also included extensive renovations of Bangsberg Hall, Bensen Hall, Clark Library, and Sattgast Hall, where classroom and teaching spaces were enhanced for general use, as well as for specialized departmental functions such as the campus music department at Bangsberg Hall, and the new collaborative and technology-rich learning areas within Clark Library.
