METTEN
COURT STUDENT APARTMENTS SAINT JOHN'S UNIVERSITY
The
strong modern architecture of the Abbey Church at Saint John's University,
designed by Marcel Breuer in the late 1950s, has strongly influenced all
of the subsequently built facilities on the campus. This 93-bedroom student
housing project responds to the monastic character of the campus architecture
by using straightforward building materials and forms. The plan is
arranged using L-shaped units for the first and second floors of the
courtyard corners, with a second unit option designed as a three-level apartment,
both unit types housing four students. |
